About the clubWelcome!
Our club has a rich history. Our men's water polo team has been in the top division of the National League for over 20 years, and during this time has won three British Championships and played regularly in European competition. Our women's water polo team has been in existence for about ten years and has progressed up the leagues to be one of the top teams in the country. They also play in Europe. Among our current and former home-grown water polo players are Ron Turner (double-Olympian and a member of the world all-star team in the 1956 Olympic Games), Rick Ambidge (former NCAA player of the year for California Berkley, now playing for the Olympic Club), Nick Hume (UK and Australian international, now Performance Director for GB Water Polo), Jerome Read (Commonwealth Games bronze medallist and now GB Seniors water polo coach) and Karine Hales (also a Commonwealth bronze medallist). Tom Dean is currently training with the GB Junior squad and Frankie Snell is playing for the GB women's water polo team. We have also had a series of top-quality international players playing for our men's and women's teams, and we attract the best players to settle in London.
Our masters swimmers consistently perform well at the annual Middlesex Masters meet and at other competitions, including open water swims. We also welcome swimmers who are interested in training more for fitness and enjoyment. Whatever your level, we are always looking for players, masters swimmers, coaches and helpers who can play a part in taking our club forward. Our ambition is to build on our history and to be consistently the best place to play water polo in the UK. With the Olympic Games coming to London in 2012, we also want to increase participation and interest in these two great sports, especially water polo among children and young people.
