Penguin women's second team kick off their National League season
Oct 8, 2010, 10:46 pm

BWPL logoOur women's second team played their first games in Division 2 of the British League in Grantham last weekend.  Formed of both seasoned Penguin players, players who have deservedly been promoted from the 3rd team, and new players, the Penguin Kings started their season with matches against strong opposition; Manchester C, Solihull and Hucknall.

Whilst we came away without a win, the games were spiritedly contested and we showed glimpses of our true potential, including goals scored by six different players over the weekend. Lily Woodroof was our top goalscorer. We'll be looking to convert this potential into reality during the rest of the National League season.

On the fourth weekend of their British Water Polo League schedule, the Penguin women's third team headed to Gloucester ready for another battle.

Pengion proved that they are a force to be reckoned with in the first game after a 9-5 win over the League's current leaders, Sunderland. Leaving a bit of steam in the pool for the second match, the Rockhoppers were again victorious with a score of 9-7 over Poly.

With this double win the Rockhoppers move up to second position in the division, just behind Sunderland.
